Ecco and Major League Baseball Advanced Media have created a new series of enhanced e-books for the Kindle, Nook, and iPad. Called MLB.com PLAY BALL Books, each enhanced e-book will feature 20 minutes of video, plus photos and interactive sections with stats and other elements. The first book, Defending the Title, launches just ahead of Opening Day (on sale Tuesday, March 26) and will include the full story of the San Francisco Giants 2012 World Championship Season, as well as a history of great dynasties. The editors of MLB.com are writing the text for the books and MLB is supplying the video.
Going forward, MLB.com and Ecco plan to produce a book every six weeks, with the next book being Fortitude: The Exemplary Life of Jackie Robinson (on sale Tuesday, April 9). Price is $3.99.
