Nielsen BookScan's top 10 for the week ending March 24 saw five debuts, with Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Princess topping the bestseller list with 68,000 copies sold in its first week at outlets that report to BookScan. Clockwork is the third book in the Infernal Devices series; a movie based on her Mortal Instruments series, City of Bones, will be released in August 2013.
Harlan Coben's Six Years debuted at #2 on BookScan, just ahead of last week's #1, Lean In, which dropped 42% in its second week but still sold 43,000 copies.
Three mass market debuts made BookScan's top 10: The Lost Years by Mary Higgins Clark, Now You See Her by James Patterson, and Sleep No More by Iris Johansen. The books finished #4, #6, and #8, respectively. Eben Alexander's Proof of Heaven continues to sell strong, landing at #5 last week. It has sold 346,000 copies so far in 2013 and is the bestselling book of the year on BookScan.
