After many years as a distribution-only client of Penguin, Kensington Publishing has inked an expanded sales and distribution agreement with the newly combined Penguin Random Publisher Services, the Penguin Random House distribution unit. PRPS will handle distribution for all Kensington titles in physical and digital formats.
Jeff Abraham, president of Penguin Random House Publisher Services, said that “Kensington has had phenomenal success for many years as a distribution client of Penguin, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to further grow their print and digital business through many new sales channels as part of our expanded partnership.”
Kensington Publishing has been distributed by Penguin for more than 20 years. The new expanded distribution deal comes as the independent publisher celebrates its 40th anniversary year, said Steven Zacharius, President and CEO of Kensington Publishing Corp. “As we celebrate Kensington’s 40th anniversary we especially look forward to working with Penguin Random Publisher Services as a team to expand our business and achieve a deeper penetration into the marketplace than we ever would have been able to do on our own. Having our global print and digital sales all under one roof will give us greater control of our business,” Zacharius said.
He added that “Kensington will continue to sell to the wholesalers, mass merchandisers and book jobbers, as we have in years past. This combination of efforts will take our company to a new level in the industry.”
