John Sargent has taken on broader responsibilities as part of a reorganization of the management structure of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.
Sargent, who has overseen the global trade group (Macmillan Publishers), has been named executive v-p of Holtzbrinck and will now oversee the company’s higher education business while continuing to run global trade. He will report to the group CEO, Stefan von Holtzbrinck.
The reorganization follows the merger of most of Holtzbrinck’s education businesses with Springer that created the Springer Nature company. Holtzbrinck’s U.S. educational businesses were not part of the deal and will now be overseen by Sargent.
Other changes announced by the German-based publishing giant include the appointment of Markus Schunk, managing director of Holtzbrinck Digital, to oversee the digital business units. He will report to Stefan von Holtzbrinck.
