As part of the ongoing reorganization at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, a number of staffers have been let go while others have been promoted from within. The publisher would not name the staffers fired, but cuts are on both the Houghton and Harcourt side.
Meanwhile the company announced that Andrea Schulz and Ken Carpenter have been bumped up. Schulz has been named v-p and editor-in-chief of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Adult Trade and Carpenter has been promoted to v-p and director, trade paperbacks for the combined Mariner, Houghton Mifflin and Harvest lists. Schulz is a six-year veteran of Harcourt while Carpenter has been with Houghton for 17 years and was, most recently, v-p and director of trade paperbacks for the Mariner and Houghton Mifflin lists.
