Internal Organization
SpringerNature CEO Derek Haank (formerly Springer’s CEO), will hand over the leadership position of the group to Daniel Ropers, previously CEO of the Dutch online book retail platform bol.com.
Change in Ownership
In January 2015, Holtzbrinck Publishing Group and BC Partners agreed to merge Springer Science+Business Media in its entirety with the majority of Macmillan Science and Education. The merger was completed in May 2015, and the new company is called Springer Nature.
Acquisitions
In July 2015, Springer Nature acquired renowned German publisher J.B. Metzler from the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, expanding and significantly enhancing the humanities portfolio.
Digital
In 2017, SpringerNature introduced the Linked Open Data offering SciGraph, which aggregates data sources from Springer Nature and key partners from the scholarly domain. The Linked Open Data platform collates information from across the research landscape, such as funders, research projects, conferences, affiliations and publications.
SpringerNature offers a personal content sharing initiative for non-commercial use through free, sharable links, which will be extended to all of the group’s primary research journals.
