Simon & Schuster CEO-designate Carolyn Reidy made her first big staff changes today, announcing Michael Selleck’s promotion to executive v-p, sales and marketing, and Dennis Eulau’s promotion to executive v-p, operations. Both positions are newly created and the two men will report to Reidy. Selleck's promotion will unite the sales and marketing functions for S&S under the direction of one executive and as a result Larry Norton, president of the sales and distribution division, will be leaving the company at the end of this year. Norton has been in his current position since 2003, and with S&S since 1994.
Selleck has been with S&S since 1984 and was formerly senior v-p of sales and marketing for the company’s adult division. He will now be responsible for the daily operations of S&S’s sales and distribution division, including its international companies in Canada and Australia. He will also serve as a chief marketing strategist for all of S&S’s domestic divisions. In her announcement, Reidy praised Selleck’s "great vision about the many ways publishers can use retail and consumer marketing."
Eulau has been with S&S since 1995 and was formerly senior v-p and general manager of the company’s adult division. He will assume responsibility for all book production and supply chain operations, information systems and technology, and the business office management of the company’s domestic publishing divisions. Reidy said Eulau "has an extraordinary ability to provide the business expertise and solutions that make it possible for our publishers to grow their business along with our authors’ readership."
Before her promotion to CEO, Reidy worked directly with Selleck and Eulau in her role as head of the adult publishing group.
