Approximately one week after announcing the formation of a new women’s imprint that will assume publication of the backlist of Fifty Shades series author E.L. James, Sourcebooks said it will publish James’ newest novel, Freed: Fifty Shades Freed as Told by Christian, on June 1. The novel is the final book in the spinoff series of James' 50 Shades trilogy featuring Christian Grey as narrator.
Sourcebooks will publish the trade paperback and e-book editions of the title in North America, while all audiobook formats will be distributed by Penguin Random House. PRH has been James’ longtime publisher. Anne Messitte, who worked with James at PRH, edited the new book.
On announcing the release of Freed, Sourcebooks also announced the name of the new imprint, Bloom Books. Sourcebooks founder Dominique Raccah said Bloom Books will offer women authors a different financial model while also giving them more control over the creative and marketing processes than a traditional publisher.
