Following Everand's launch of AI-powered book discovery last week, Audible.com has launched Maven, an AI-powered feature, that allows users to search for audiobooks using natural language queries. The new tool is currently in beta and available to select U.S. customers.

The service is designed to answer questions such as, "I'm looking for an uplifting fiction novel with a female protagonist" or "show me fantasy audiobooks that I can complete on an 8-hour road trip.”

"With Maven, we're introducing an AI-powered search feature to help listeners uncover hidden gems across our vast catalog, even for their most specific requests,” Andy Tsao, Audible's chief product and analytics officer, said in a statement.

In addition to Maven, Audible has begun offering AI-generated summaries of user reviews, and is testing a new service. which creates on demand lists of titles on niche topics.

During this initial beta phase, Maven will be available to 50% of U.S. customers across all membership plans. As Maven is still in its early stages, the company is encouraging user feedback to help refine and improve the feature.

“With Maven, we’re introducing an AI-powered search feature to help listeners uncover hidden gems across our vast catalog, even for their most specific requests,” Tsao said. “And this is just the beginning—we’re going to continuously improve this feature to ensure our users always have the best possible book recommendations at their fingertips.”
