Emily Bestler Books has teamed up with Scott Glassgold, 12:01 Films founder and producer, to launch 12:01 Books, a new horror imprint which, the parties said, "aims to identify, grow, and publish creator-driven IP."

Under the joint venture, Glassgold and Emily Bestler, SVP, editor-in-chief, and publisher of the eponymous imprint at Atria Books, will develop and publish a select list of horror novels, working with emerging and established authors and creators to launch both books and films. In prepared remarks, both Bestler and Glassgold said the joint venture is the best way to help authors get their content made into both books and films.

The imprint will build on the 12:01 Films brand. said Liz Parker, managing partner of Verve, who negotiated the deal. The imprint’s creation comes after two Bestler books landed film deals: Marcus Kliewer’s We Used to Live Here was acquired by Netflix, with Blake Lively committed to star and produce, while Wilderness Reform, by Matt Query and Harrison Query, was bought by Paramount. Glassgold is set to produce both feature film adaptations.

12:01 books will kickoff with Kliewer’s second novel, The Caretaker, which is set for release in 2026. The film version of the novel is currently in development, with Sydney Sweeney attached to star and produce alongside Glassgold and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. Other projects will be announced at a later date.
