Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, has signed Ann Spangler, author of Praying the Names of God, as general editor of the Names of God Bible (Sept.) in Baker’s God’s Word Translation. The Bible will restore more than 10,000 occurrences of the names and titles of God to their Hebrew equivalents—such asYahweh, El Shadday, El Elyon, and Adonay—so readers can learn the Hebrew names. It will also include prayers and devotional readings written by Spangler. Last year sales of Baker’s full line of God’s Word Translation (GW) Bibles grew 60% over 2009.

Christian Writers Guild has acquired Sally Stuart’s Christian Writers Market Guide, the annual resource for authors of Christian books and articles. Stuart has published the Guide for the past 26 years. Tyndale House will continue to publish the book, which will be retitled in 2012, to The Christian Writer’s Market Guide by Jerry B. Jenkins, who owns the Guild. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Christian Writers Guild offers training to writers through e-mail courses, conferences, contests, mentoring, and peer groups.

Tyndale House has licensed the Arabic edition of the New York Times bestseller Son of Hamas by Mosab Yousef (Tyndale/SaltRiver) to Key Media, the publishing arm of Al Hayat TV. In his memoir, Yousef, the oldest son of Hamas cofounder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, recounts his 10 years as a spy for the Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence agency, and his subsequent conversion to Christianity. Key Media made the Arabic translation available worldwide on March 1 as a free download. Al Hayat TV, also known as Life TV, is an Arabic-language Christian content channel with a regular viewership estimated at 20 million to 50 million people. Tyndale also has announced the repackaging of 12 of the titles in the Left Behind series of apocalyptic fiction by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. The books will feature new covers and updated content. The Left Behind product line includes 12 adult novels, three prequels, one sequel, a set of 40 juvenile novels, audio books, devotionals, and graphic novels. Seven titles in the adult series reached #1 on the bestsellers lists of Publishers Weekly, the New York Times, and USA Today. The line has sold 63 million copies since the release of the first book in 1995.

David C. Cook has won two of Outreach magazine’s 2011 Outreach Resources of the Year awards. Cook’s winning titles were On Guard: Defending Your Faith with Reason and Precision by William Lane Craig (Apologetics category) and That’s Where God Is by Dan and Ali Morrow (Children’s Outreach category). The awards honor “the best books, DVDs, and curricula produced to help the church and Christians reach out in areas such as evangelism, compassionate service, and cross-cultural ministries,” according to a statement from Cook. Cook has also won 17 ADDY Awards at the annual contest held by the Pikes Peak Advertising Federation. Cook won the highest number of ADDY awards in the region for the third year in a row.

Regal Books’ Everything You Always Wanted to Know About God (but Were Afraid to Ask): The Jesus Edition by Eric Metaxas also won a 2011 Outreach Resources of the Year award in the Pass-Along Resources category. Metaxas is the New York Times bestselling author (with Timothy Keller) of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy (Thomas Nelson, 2010).

Standard Publishing has announced that its Happy Day Book line for children has sold more than four million copies. Happy Day titles include top sellers I’m Glad I’m Your Mother, My Story of Jesus, and God Made Puppies. The line consists of books for multiple reading levels, seasonal books, and Bible storybooks. There are currently more than 70 titles, comprising hardcovers, paperbacks, board books, digital books, and compilations.

Christian Retailing has opened voting for its 2011 Retailers Choice Awards. Christian retailers will select the best products of the year from more than 350 nominees—the most in the program’s 10-year history—in 39 categories. Those who complete the ballot will be eligible to win a selection of the nominated products; one will be selected at random to receive a Kindle e-book reader. Winners will be announced at Christian Retailing's Retailing ReBoot 2011 event, to be held April 26-28 at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, Fla.

World Harvest Mission (WHM), which has more than 150 missionaries in 14 countries, publishes books, mini-books, small group resources, and church curricula. New Growth Press has a similar publishing and distribution partnership with the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF).
