Next month, Kube Publishing offers Daily Wisdom: Selections from the Holy Qur’an (Apr.) The book is intended for daily reflection or devotion and features a ribbon marker and gold-toned page embellishment. Editor Abdur Raheem Kidwai drew from several English translations of the Qur’an, among them the widely used version by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. Kube is distributed by Consortium.

A poet and a professor of Hindu studies team for a new verse translation of The Bhagavad Gita (Norton, Apr.), translated by Gavin Flood and Charles Martin. Flood teaches at Oxford University; poet and critic Martin lives in Syracuse, N.Y. Their introduction provides historical background and explains issues involved in translating Sanskrit poetry.

Thomas Nelson will release the full version of The Voice Bible in April. The Voice was created to reflect the fact that the scriptures were composed by multiple authors in different languages. A team of more than 100 scholars spent seven years on the translation, then sought the creative input of contemporary songwriters, poets, writers, scholars, and pastors in order to reflect the distinctive voices of the original texts. The Voice New Testament, released last November, has 100,000 copies in print and is currently Nelson’s top-selling Bible.

Searchlight Press continues its Latin Testament Project with the publication of The Latin Nevi’im: Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings (Feb.). Translator John Cunyus uses the Latin Vulgate Bible, presented with his translation. The six volumes of the Latin Old Testament will be complete in 2013. Searchlight is distributed by Ingram.
