Moody Publishers has acquired WingSpread Publishers, the publishing division of Zur Ltd. in Camp Hills, Pa. The acquisition brings together two long-lived publishers. Moody is 117 years old, and WingSpread started as a missionary periodical in 1880. The 138 titles acquired by Moody include 57 written by influential pastor and prolific author A.W. Tozer. (The name WingSpread is taken from the book of the same name by him.)
Greg Thornton, senior vice president of media at Moody Bible Institute, said WingSpread had approached Moody. “The Moody Bible Institute has a long-standing history with the works of great men like Tozer in our publishing division and the recorded messages preached by Tozer that have been preserved in the Moody Radio archives,” he said.
The newly acquired WingSpread titles will be integrated into Moody’s Spiritual Life and Ministry Team led by Duane Sherman, associate publisher.
