Independent audiobooks publisher Recorded Books acquired christianaudio, a publisher of Christian audiobooks. Terms of the deal, completed last week, were disclosed. Recorded Books’ chief content editor Troy Juliar said that the acquisition will increase his company’s strength in the Christian nonfiction space.
“Our core business is schools and libraries and Christian fiction and clean romance,” he said. “[Christianaudio] gives us an opportunity to add exposure in Christian nonfiction, and it complements our fiction strength.”
Christianaudio’s catalog has over 1,400 titles, including fiction and nonfiction genres, ranging from authors John Bunyan and Dietrich Bonhoeffer to contemporary bestselling authors Priscila Shirer, John Piper, and Beth Moore.
Recorded Books will increase christianaudio’s publishing program to 300 titles a year— a 30% increase for the imprint from last year. Cory Verner will stay on at christianaudio as publishing manager in Escondido, Calif.
Christianaudio will join Recorded Books’ 22 other imprints, including the recently acquired Tantor Media and HighBridge imprints. With the purchase, Recorded Books' catalog now features over 27,000 audiobooks.
