Following his firing from NewSpring Baptist Church in Greenwood, S.C., last month, former senior pastor Perry Noble is facing delays on the publication of his latest book, 11 ½ Questions to Help You Date Without Regret. Tyndale House spokesperson Margie Waterson told PW that the publisher postponed the fall release after Noble entered a month-long treatment program for alcohol abuse.
While Noble’s full attention is turned toward recovery, “we felt that it would be in everyone’s best interest,” Waterson said. “Tyndale is awaiting additional information before we can determine next steps.”
In a July 10 statement on Noble’s firing, NewSpring cited “unfortunate choices and decisions that have caused much concern” regarding his personal behavior, including his “posture toward his marriage, increased reliance on alcohol, and other behaviors.” Days after his firing, Noble addressed his followers in a Facebook Live video, asking for their forgiveness and explaining his plans for recovery. “I am checking into a treatment facility, and I am going to work with some excellent people who are really going to help me take my next steps.”
Noble’s previous titles with Tyndale include Unleash! (2012), Overwhelmed (2014), and The Most Excellent Way to Lead (2016), which together have sold more than 39,000 print copies, according to Nielsen BookScan. These books are still available from Tyndale, but pre-orders for 11 ½ Questions have been suspended.
