Max Lucado’s 34th trade book, Anxious for Nothing, debuted at the top of PW’s Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list for September. The title, which draws on concepts from the Bible to combat anxiety, depression, and stress-related illnesses, was promoted via a pre-order campaign that included a free coffee mug, advertising on Facebook, and through video content on YouTube. Anxious for Nothing has a companion study guide, and a children’s book version, I’m Not A Scaredy Cat, pubbed on October 3.

The Paradigm, the newest book on Bible prophecy by Jonathan Cahn, debuted at #2 in Religion Nonfiction after a marketing and publicity campaign that included pre-order discounts, television and radio appearances such as on the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, and email blasts to previous buyers and key accounts, according to Charisma House. The Paradigm was also available at significant discounts online at Christian bookstores such as WND and Mardel. The new release boosted sales for Cahn's previously published works of fiction—2016’s The Book of Mysteries took #2 on PW’s Religion Fiction Bestsellers list, while 2012’s The Harbinger landed at #9.

Dr. Mary Neal, whose To Heaven and Back has sold over a million copies since its 2012 publication, came in at #5 in Religion Nonfiction with her follow-up, 7 Lessons from Heaven. Marketing and publicity for the new book included a national media campaign involving print, online, and broadcast outlets such as the Today show, promotion on Facebook, and ad placement on Patheos.com, Mind Body Green, and Good Reads.
