Everybody, Always, Bob Goff’s guide to “becoming love” to those around us, is #1 on PW’s Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list for April. Promotions for the follow-up to 2012’s motivational call to action, Love Does, included a sweepstakes to meet Goff at Disneyland, a seven-city book tour, pre-order exclusives, and a book launch involving a 3,000-person team on social media. Further, Goff’s media appearances included Glenn Beck’s radio program and Maria Shriver’s online conversation series, Architects of Change.
An explanation of the Book of Exodus in modern terms, The Rational Bible by Dennis Prager, also made its debut on PW’s Religion Nonfiction chart. Marketing and publicity for the book, which came in at #3, included author appearances on Fox & Friends, ad placement on Google, Amazon, and Facebook, and promotion on Prager’s radio show, which is syndicated by the Salem Media Group—the parent company of Prager's publisher Regnery Publishing.
Dropping two spots from last month, Sarah Young’s devotional Jesus Calling came in at #4 in April, while Jesus Always, which was recently named the ECPA’s Christian Book of the Year, moved up two spots to #8.
Francine Rivers topped PW’s Religion Fiction Bestsellers once again with The Masterpiece. The unusual book cover and shelf space in nontraditional sales channels such as Hobby Lobby continue to help sales, according to Tyndale. The new book is also boosting sales of Rivers’ 1991 hit Redeeming Love, which took #5 on our Religion Fiction list.
