B&H Nabs Ellie Holcomb, Again
Singer-songwriter Ellie Holcomb is following up her 2018 children’s book, Who Sang the First Song, with another children’s title, also coming from B&H. Michelle Burke, publisher, kids books at B&H, bought world rights directly from the author to Don't Forget to Remember, a board book aimed at reminding readers what is true about God, according to the publisher. It’s slated for publication in March 2020, and Kayla Harren, the illustrator of Who Sang the First Song, is illustrating the forthcoming title. .
Sacramento Pastor Moves to Zondervan
Stephanie Smith, acquisition editor at Zondervan, took world rights from Whitney Gossett at the Fedd Agency to a new book by Banning Liebscher (Rooted, WaterBrook, 2016), the founder and pastor of Jesus Culture Sacramento, which focuses on conferences and leadership development. The yet-to-be-titled book draws on the story of Jonathan in the Bible and encourages dissatisfied Christians to pursue more for their lives, according to the publisher. It’s slated for publication in May 2020.
IVP Heads to ‘Eden’
In a world rights deal brokered directly with the author, IVP associate editor Anna Gissing bought Stewards of Eden: What Scripture Says About the Environment and Why it Matters by Sandra Richter (The Epic of Eden, 2008). The book, which uses the Old Testament to make a case for why Christians should care about the environment, is scheduled for release in February 2020. Following the release, Richter will update and revise The Epic of Eden for a second edition.
Young, Malm ‘Come Back’ to Baker
Blythe Daniel of the Blythe Daniel Agency, Inc. sold world rights to Baker Publishing acquisition editor Rachel Jacobson for The Volunteer Effect, a follow-up to The Come Back Effect (2018) by Jason Young and Jonathan Malm. Set to release in September 2020, the book offers volunteer coordinators, including those at churches and non-profits, tips for acquiring, retaining, and motivating volunteers.
