Madison Trammel has been named editorial director at the Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group (PRHCPG), a standalone division formed in October to unite four PRH imprints aimed at the Christian marketplace. Trammel makes the move after six years at B&H Publishing where, as publisher of its academic team, he handled growth strategy and budgets and managed the editorial team. He was also an associate director of B&H's trade team.
In the announcement, Campbell Wharton, SVP and publisher for PRHCPG, cited Trammel's "entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrated capacity for imprint growth, and vast knowledge and experience in the Christian marketplace over the last two decades." Trammel, who will oversee all nonfiction editors acquiring for the WaterBrook, Multnomah, Image, and Forum imprints, will report to Laura Barker, VP and publisher, on March 3.
Trammel, 38, began his career as an associate editor at Christianity Today. Before his post at B&H, he was an acquisitions editor at HarperCollins Christian Publishing for eight years, and he oversaw an Issues & Culture line and a Spiritual Growth line at Moody Publishers. He called his PRHCPG role an "incredible honor," adding that he is "especially motivated by Wharton and Barker's "vision to broaden PRH Christian’s reach in the marketplace, providing a wider range of readers with notable books that enrich their spiritual lives.
