World Book Night has now scheduled a total of 27 events around the country between April 19 and 23 in libraries or bookstores, or in three cases, a local club or a brewery. Of note: the Mad Art Gallery in St. Louis; Tin House’s party in Portland; the Cambridge Public Library; and B&N Union Square.
The authors whose books were chosen as picks who will be doing kick-off events are: Lisa Genova, Vanessa Diffenbaugh, Neil Gaiman, Lisa Scottoline, Hillary Jordan, Walter Mosley, Nora Roberts, Jesmyn Ward, James Patterson, Ann Patchett, Mike Perry, J.R. Moehringer, Sandra Cisneros, Rick Riordan, Alexis Smith, Michael Lewis -- and a few surprises.
In addition, there will be 2 WBN Poetry events featuring local poets reading from Favorite American Poems, plus 11 WBN Book & Rose events. Additionally, WBN books are being given to every audience member at Annie and Lion King on Broadway the evening of April 23, as well as at the production of WBN-pick, Still Alice, in Chicago, all with cast-read or Playbill WBN announcements.
