Upon its close on Sunday, October 20, the 2019 Frankfurt Book reported a “significant” increase in total attendance.
In a release, organizers reported 302,267 total visitors, a 5.5% jump from the 285,024 who attended in 2018, including a 1.8% increase in professional attendance, and a 9.2% jump in weekend attendance. The number of exhibitors was down slightly to 7,450 from 7,503 in 2018.
“Industry representatives proved to be optimistic and celebratory,” noted the release, adding that “never before have there been as many events, discussions, parties, meetings and interactions on social media."
The Literary Agents & Scouts Centre (LitAg) also reported another year of growth, organizers say, with 355 participating agencies from 35 countries.
