The latest installment of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, topped Germany’s fiction bestseller list at the end of November. The second spot was held by In Eternal Friendship by Nele Neuhaus, a mystery about the sudden disappearance of an employee at a large Frankfurt publishing house. Sebastian Fitzek’s Playlist fell from the #1 spot to third place. Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen’s Renegades was #3 on the German nonfiction bestseller list.
Italy’s combined bestseller list in late November was led by A New Life by Fabio Volo. Volo is a popular actor, and his new novel tells the story of two friends on a road trip in an old Fiat. At #2 was Never, the latest epic novel by U.K. superstar Ken Follett. Never also appeared high on lists in France, Germany, and Spain. At #3 on the Italian list was J.K. Rowling’s The Christmas Pig.
David Lagercrantz, who for the past decade has been continuing Steig Larsson’s Millennium series, returned to the top of the Swedish bestseller list in late November with Obscuritas. The novel is the first in a new series featuring a sleuth investigating the death of a soccer referee in Stockholm in 2003. At #3 on the Swedish list was Paradise by Abdulrazak Gurnah, this year’s Nobel Prize winner for literature.
