Publishers Weekly has announced five finalists for its 2022 Star Watch awards. Selected from a pool of 41 honorees, the five finalists were chosen by a jury of Publishers Weekly editors and industry influencers for their contributions to the publishing industry.
The five finalists include:
- Elizabeth Agyemang, associate editor, Clarion Books
- Ruoxi Chen, editor, Tordotcom Publishing
- Fanta Diallo, associate publicist, Little, Brown and Company
- Amy Fitzgerald, editorial director, Lerner Publishing Group
- Ashley Mireles, director of sales and marketing, Familius
The finalists will have featured profiles in the October 31 issue of PW. A Star Watch "Superstar" will be named at the in-person awards celebration on November 15 at the Monarch Rooftop in New York City.
“The honorees for 2022 are passionate about books and about publishing books for a diverse array of communities. Using creative campaigns and innovative partnerships, they freely employ social media as well as traditional media and marketing to get these books into readers’ hands,” said Jim Milliot, editorial director of Publishers Weekly and an awards juror.
Nearly 200 nominations were vetted by the PW Star Watch jury, with attention paid to the “rising stars” of the publishing world. Last year’s Superstars were Madison, Wisconsin booksellers Gretchen Treu and Wes Lukes, co-owners of A Room of One’s Own.
“We are delighted to be able to come together again, in person, as an industry, to celebrate this year’s outstanding stars of publishing,” said Krista Rafanello, senior marketing director at PW.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are available for purchase here.
