The longlist for the 2024 Booker Prize, which recognizes a work of fiction published in the English language in the U.K. and/or Ireland, has been announced. Among those listed are three debut novelists and several marquee names, with six Americans making this year's list.
This year's 13-book longlist was chosen by a judging panel comprising Sara Collins, Justine Jordan, Yiyun Li, Nitin Sawhney, and chair Edmund de Waal. A shortlist of six titles will be announced on September 19, and the winning book will be revealed on October 24, 2024. Each shortlisted author receives £2,500 and a specially bound edition of their book. The ultimate winner receives £50,000.
