Jorge Herralde, proprietor and director of Spanish publisher Editorial Anagrama, is receiving the ninth annual Lifetime Achievement Award in International Publishing from the London Book Fair. The award is given in conjunction with the Publishers Association and recognizes, as the fair explains, "an individual who has made a truly significant mark in the sphere of global publishing."
Speaking to the selection of Herralde, director of LBF, Alastair Burtenshaw, said his house is "a bastion of publishing excellence, combining quality with a real drive to identify undiscovered literary talent. Jorge Herralde has maintained the highest standards of literary excellence in both his native Spanish and in his immaculately translated foreign works."
Previous winners including Lynette Owen of Pearson; Peter Mayer of The Overlook Press; and Drenka Willen of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
