The London Book Fair, scheduled for March 12-14 next year, has announced its 2024 Authors of the Day lineup: television presenter and bestselling author Richard Osman, whose Thursday Murder Club series has been a global hit; Taylor Jenkins Reid, bestselling author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo; Waterstones Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho; and Klaus Flugge Prize winner Flavia Z. Drago, who will be the the Illustrator of the Fair.
With its early dates, the London Book Fair now precedes the Bologna Children's Book Fair, making it the first major trade book fair in Europe in 2024.
“We will be bringing together a phenomenal array of publishing talent from all over the world, and Taylor, Richard, Flavia and Joseph perfectly encapsulate the enthusiasm, talent and creativity that make our industry so special," Gareth Rapley, director of the London Book Fair, said in a statement. "We are really looking forward to welcoming them to Olympia next March, for what we are sure will be fascinating conversations around their careers, inspiration and mission."
Earlier this month, writing about the upcoming fair in the Frankfurt Book Fair Show Daily, Rapley outlined his vision for next year's LBF. "Once again, LBF will be bridging the discussion across all areas of creative content, across print, audio, TV, film, and digital channels," he said. "As ever, LBF will undoubtedly provide a rich offer to anyone attending, from global dealmakers to booksellers, literary agents to new authors and translators." Rapley added that the fair will be making several changes based on feedback from attendees, including extending the International Rights Centre opening hours to 2.30 p.m. closure on Thursday.
Early bird tickets for the fair go on sale in November.
