Kick off your BookExpo with Vesuvian Books in the Librarians' Lounge, on Thursday, May 31, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Grab a cup of coffee and a little breakfast, meet some of Vesuvian’s top authors, and pick up your first signed copies of the show.
Authors scheduled to appear include:
Dan Elish, who will be on hand signing copies of his action-packed fantasy novel The Royal Order of Fighting Dragons. Elish is the author of nine books, including Born too Short: The Confessions of an Eighth-Grade Basket Case (an International Reading Association Students’ Choice Award recipient) as well as the book for the Broadway musical 13, now slated to be a movie by CBS Films, and The Worldwide Dessert Contest, which was recently optioned for TV by Lisa Kudrow.
Mary Ting will be signing copies of her book ISAN–International Sensory Assassin Network, a YA dystopian story now in development for a TV series. An international bestselling, and award-winning author, Ting, a former teacher, understands the power of books and reading, and has even toured with the Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy, and her children’s chapter book: No Bullies Allowed.
Alexandrea Weis will be signing copies of Blackwell, the award-winning prequel to her suspenseful, gothic “Magnus Blackwell” Series. Weis has one of the most fascinating resumes of any author you’ll meet at BookExpo—not only is she the popular author of 25 novels spanning a range of genres, she’s also a screenwriter, an ICU nurse, a certified wildlife rehabber who rescues orphaned and injured animals, and a historian, born and raised in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Gareth Worthington will be on hand signing copies It Takes Death To Reach A Star; Book One of sci-fi, dystopian duology. A member of the British Science Fiction Association, Worthington also brings a pretty remarkable resume to BookExpo—he is a trained marine biologist, with a doctorate in comparative endocrinology. His debut novel, Children of the Fifth Sun, won in the Science Fiction category at the London Book Festival 2017.
Thursday, May 31, 9:30–10:30 a.m., at the Publishers Weekly BookExpo Librarians’ Lounge (Booth 1856).
