On Thursday, May 31, take an afternoon break in the Librarians' Lounge from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Enjoy some lemonade and other refreshments courtesy of Penguin Random House Library Marketing’s #RefreshingReads Meet & Greet and quench your literary thirst with some great authors, who will give away signed copies of their forthcoming books.
Scheduled to appear are:
Sam Anderson, who will sign copies of his forthcoming Boom Town: The Fantastical Saga of Oklahoma City, its Chaotic Founding, its Purloined Basketball Team, and the Dream of Becoming a World-class Metropolis. Anderson, a staff writer at the New York Times Magazine, tells the story of this unique American city, and at “the urban tapestry woven from control and chaos, sports and civics.”
Ingrid Rojas Contreras, will sign copies of her debut novel Fruit of the Drunken Tree. Set against the backdrop of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar's reign of terror, the Colombian-born Rojas Contreras shares two different, but inextricable coming-of-age stories—and sheds light on the impossible choices women are often forced to make in the face of violence.
Grady Hendrix will sign copies of his forthcoming novel We Sold Our Souls. The New York-based Hendrix’s previous work include Horrorstör, named one of the best books of 2014 by National Public Radio, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, and the Bram Stoker Award-winning Paperbacks from Hell, his survey of outrageous horror novels of the 1970s and 80s.
Rebecca Makkai will sign copies of her new novel, The Great Believers, which, in a starred review, Publishers Weekly called “a striking journey,” that will “undoubtedly touch the hearts and minds of readers.”
Thursday, May 31, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Publishers Weekly BookExpo Librarians’ Lounge (Booth 1856).
