Everyone’s favorite aquatic duo is back in Narwhalicorn and Jelly, the hilarious seventh book in Ben Claxton’s blockbuster early graphic novel series Narwhal and Jelly, out now from Tundra.

This time around, when Jelly wonders what a unicorn is, Narwhal explains—and decides they must see a real-life unicorn for themself. Soon enough, Narwhal is ashore and hunting for unicorns—only to become one in the end!

“I’ve always wanted to meet a unicorn,” Narwhal told PW in an exclusive interview. “And recently, my wish came true! Actually, I got to meet and partycorn with more than one. I used to think they were pretty much the narwhals of the land, but it turns out there are many sorts of unicorns. Yeticorn, Robocorn, Platycorn, Horsicorn… they’re all really FUNicorn and totally out-of-this-world! You should come with me to their planet sometime!”

As readers know, Narwhal (of Narwhal and Jelly fame) has had more than a few underwater adventures. But what happens when Narwhal journeys onto land with BFF Jelly to party with actual unicorns?

When Jelly wonders what a unicorn is, Narwhal explains that they’re pretty much narwhals of the land (!)—and then gets carried away with a grand plan to see one. With the help of Star, Narwhal’s wish comes true in the wildest, weirdest way: Narwhal gets some land legs and takes their first step ashore. After some wibble-wobbling and a bit of practice, Narwhal is soon galloping along in search of unicorns, though Jelly gets a little land sick. Before they know it, Star has the duo blasting off to a magical planet where everyone is a unicorn! But Jelly's out-of-this-world adventure makes him feel out of his comfort zone, and he wishes he were at home... can Narwhal cheer Jelly up and also party down with their new unicorn pals?

Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea!

Narwhal is a happy-go-lucky narwhal. Jelly is a no-nonsense jellyfish. The two might not have a lot in common, but they do love waffles, parties, and adventures. Ever-sensible Jelly isn’t so sure that’s the best idea, but is all for Narwhal trying new things (instead of just eating waffles all the time, no matter how delicious waffles are). In this third book, Narwhal and Jelly star in three new stories about trying new things, favorite foods and accepting who we are. Always funny and never didactic, this underwater duo charms again through their powerful combination of positive thinking, imagination and joyfulness.

Narwhal’s Otter Friend

Dive into three new stories about the joy of adventure and the power of friendship! In the first story, Otty the otter makes her debut splash; while Narwhal greets her with immediate enthusiasm, Jelly’s not so sure about her...mostly because he worries she’ll take his place as Narwhal’s best friend. Meet Narwhal

Narwhal is a waffley sweet, friendly, and imaginative whale with a tusk-tooth—the “Unicorn of the Sea!” Most days Narwhal can be found underwater, spending time with best bud Jelly (a jellyfish). The two of them make their own comic books and have parties with other aquatic friends Shark, Octopus, Turtle, Shelly, Otty, Mr. Blowfish, and—sometimes—Crab. (They have very few anemones.) They eat carp-ious amounts of waffles and get swept away in all sorts of adventures. Since 2016, they have been a part-time superhero, a substitute teacher, and briefly gone by the name “Peanut Butter.” In Narwhal’s most recent adventure, Narwhal becomes obsessed with the idea of meeting a unicorn, the “Narwhal of the Land.”
