ICv2 Hosts ‘Insider Talks’ At New York Comic Con
Pop culture trade news site ICv2 is hosting, Insider Talks and Happy Hour, a new version of its annual conference, to be held October 6 at the Javits Center on the eve of New York Comic Con, that will present a series of top speakers—among them former Vertigo editor Karen Berger—to address the current state and future of the comics and pop culture marketplace.
ICv2’s Insider Talks and Happy Hour is an invitation-only event for comics and pop culture-related business professionals that will be held in the 4th floor Galleria at the Javits Convention Center in conjunction with New York Comic Con. Insider Talks presentations will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm to be followed by a cocktail reception from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm.
Insider Talks will feature brief presentations by a series of distinguished speakers known for their expertise in the pop culture marketplace.
Speakers include Karen Berger, former editor of DC’s celebrated Vertigo imprint, who will discuss “Expanding Comics Readership Further.” ICv2 CEO Milton Griepp will deliver his annual look at market trends in “Current Trends and The Future of Retail.”
In addition pop culture analyst and Forbes columnist Rob Salkowitz will give a presentation on “Navigating the Fan Con-Vergence: What New Data Can Tell Us About Events and Audiences.” And music and Broadway producer turned comics writer, Vivek J. Tiwary, winner of an Eisner for his bestselling graphic biography The Fifth Beatle, will discuss “Business Lessons from the Fifth Beatle.”
ICv2 CEO Milton Griepp said this year’s Insider Talks and Happy Hour is an effort bring the comics industry together “around shorter, more potent discussion of key topics.” Griepp said “it's great to be able to host an opportunity to celebrate the first day of New York Comic Con and connect with old and new friends. When creators, publishers, retailers, digital execs, press and analysts, and others in the business all come together, good things happen.”
