Archie Comics to Debut Horror Imprint
Driven by the popularity of Afterlife with Archie and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, new series featuring classic Archie characters in real zombie and occult stories, Archie Comics is launching an Archie Horror imprint in the Spring.
The new line of Archie Horror comics will launch in April with the latest issue of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the series’ much-delayed second issue, written by Archie chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and drawn by Robert Hack. In May the new horror imprint will release Afterlife with Archie #8, written by Aguirre-Sacasa and drawn by Francesco Francavilla, the latest issue in the bestselling zombie series that features the Riverdale crew in a genuinely scary horror narrative based on the classic horror film, The Shining.
Archie Comics also plans to launch a third and as yet unnamed series under the Archie Horror imprint that the publisher teases will “star a major character.” Aguirre-Sacasa said, “To take these iconic characters and reimagine them and place them in situations they’ve never been in before—it’s a blast, and I’m glad people are responding to it.”
