Penguin Random House Focuses on Social Responsibility
Following the release of Bertelsmann's new Corporate Responsibility Report, Penguin Random House has announced its 2020 Social Responsibility Commitments. The company has committed to accomplishing the following by the end of 2020:
- Donate more than 15 million books to schools and educational programs serving children in need around the world
- Donate 3 million e-books to schools and libraries in sub-Saharan African countries
- Donate more than $2 million for students, teachers, and libraries
- Donate more than $1.5 million charities recommended by employees
- Make 250,000 working hours available for employees to participate in company-organized initiatives, or to volunteer with organizations that they personally support
- Source 100 percent of its paper worldwide from a certified forest-management standard such as FSC, SFI, and/or PEFC
- Champion freedom of expression by publishing a diversity of voices, opinions, ideas, and narratives
