Geof Darrow’s ‘Shaolin Cowboy’ Comic Returns in 2017
Acclaimed comics artist Geoff Darrow, best known for working on Frank Miller’s sci-fi epic, Hard Boiled, is bringing back his kung-fu zombie killing machine, the Shaolin Cowboy, in a new four-issue comics mini-series, Shaolin Cowboy: Who’ll Stop The Reign? to be published by Dark Horse Comics in April.
Darrow’s Shaolin Cowboy is an enigmatic Shaolin monk that wanders across what appears to be a vast and surreal western landscape battling a series of demonic threats and leaving behind vast heaps of bloody mangled corpses. The story also includes the liberal use of chainsaws.
PW has interviewed Darrow for the More to Come podcast twice about Shaolin Cowboy and other works, including at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, and at the 2015 New York Comic Con.
The Shaolin Cowboy: Who’ll Stop the Reign? Will be written and drawn by Darrow and colored by Dave Stewart. In the book, once again the Shaolin Cowboy will find that the road he travels is heading straight to hell and bloody revenge.
