ComicBlitz Raises $100K via WeFunder, Releases Android App
ComicBlitz, a startup digital comics subscription service, has crowdfunded nearly $100,000 in equity investment using WeFunder; and has released an Android OS version of its app.
The digital comics subscription service has mounted an unusual equity investment campaign using WeFunder, a crowdfunding platform that allows unaccredited investors with at least $100 to invest in new ventures.
According to ComicBlitz, more than 200 individuals have now collectively contributed nearly $100,000 in investment funding to the ComicBlitz WeFunder campaign. The campaign will end on April 29. The funds will be used to expand its inventory of comics and graphic novels and improve the consumer experience on the service.
ComicBlitz has about 5,500 registered subscribers.
ComicBlitz offers subscription access to more than 4,500 comics and graphic novels for a monthly fee of about $7.99. The company launched with an iOS app and has now added a version for the Android platform.
ComicBlitz CEO Jordan Plosky said. “Our fans and new investors have been clamoring for service to be available on Android, and we’ve spent months in beta to bring it to them. We’re looking forward to fan feedback as they experience our service on Android, and enjoy our wide variety of digital comics on their mobile devices.”
