Amazon Adds Marvel Comics to Comixology Unlimited and Guided View to the Kindle
In separate announcements Amazon plans to add select Marvel Comics titles to its Comixology Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading subscription services. Amazon has also added Comixology’s Guided View technology to the Kindle platform.
In partnership with Marvel, Amazon is making a selection of its periodical and graphic novel collections available through its combined subscription service platforms. Now fans who use these services can read such popular Marvel series as The Avengers, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Daredevil, and many more.
In addition, Comixology’s Guided View Technology, a feature that allows readers on mobile devices to easily read comics, will make its debut on the Kindle platform. Comixology’s Guided View feature allows readers to set their devices to present a comic book page panel-to-panel, automatically isolating and enlarging each panel on the page in sequence in order to make digital reading easier.
Comixology is Amazon’s digital comics marketplace and Comixology Unlimited is Amazon’s comics subscription service offering access to 10,000 comics, graphic novels and manga for $5.99 a month. Kindle Unlimited is Amazon’s general book subscriptin service which makes more than 1 million titles (and magazines) available to subscribers for $9.99 a month. Prime Reading gives Amazon’s Prime members access to a rotating selection of Kindle content including books, magazines, comics, children’s books and more for the price of the Prime membership.
Comixology CEO David Steinberger described the addition of Marvel Comics to Amazon’s subscription services as “a great opportunity to discover and explore the best that comics have to offer.” He added that Comixology’s Guided View feature is part of “our audacious goal of making everyone on earth a comics, graphic novel, or manga fan is bringing the best reading experience to everyone, whether on comiXology or on Kindle.”
