CXC 2017 Guest Comics Artists Include Kyle Baker, Derf Backderf, Emil Ferris
Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC), a three-year old comics festival held in Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 28-Oct. 1, announced its 2017 slate of 24 guest artists, among them Kyle Baker, Derf Backderf, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and Nilah Magruder.
Other guest artists that will be featured at this year’s Cartoon Crossroads Columbus Festival include Peter Bagge, Emil Ferris, Kat Fajardo, Kevin Huizenga, Laura Park, Tillie Walden, Mimi Pond and others. The four-day CXC festival is held in multiple locations throughout the City of Columbus, Ohio.
CXC Executive Director Tom Spurgeon, said "the core of our special guest list this year is an amazing, diverse, highly skilled crew of great comics makers.”
The CXC organizing committee also released the 2017 CXC logo which was designed by designer Sonia Harris and illustrator Katie Skelly.
Acclaimed cartoonist Jeff Smith, creator of the bestselling Bone graphic novel series (who lives in Columbus), is CXC Festival president and artistic director. Organized in collaboration with the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at the Ohio State University and other local institutions, CXC was launched in 2015.
Smith said, “With this spectacular group in place, we're confident our third CXC can be our best one yet."
