Jaime Hernandez’s ‘The Love Bunglers’ Wins L.A. Times Book Prize
Along with the announcements of the other winners of the L.A. Times Book Prizes, the award for graphic novels was presented April 18 to the Love Bunglers by Jaime Hernandez in a ceremony at USC’s Bovard Auditorium. Published by Fantagraphics, The Love Bunglers was also named a PW Best Book of 2014.
The Love Bunglers is the latest installment in on lives of Hernandez’s unforgettable heroines, Maggie and Hopey. The former lovers are older now and Hernandez jumps backwards and forwards in literary time to reveal where life has taken them.
The Finalists for the 2015 L.A. Times Book Prize for graphic novels include Neyestani’s An Iranian Metamorphosis (Uncivilized Books), the Tamaki cousins’ This One Summer (First Second), Roz Chast’s Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? A Memoir (Bloomsbury), and Olivier Schrauwen’s Arsène Schrauwen (Fantagraphics).
