BIGNY to Host Diversity and Inclusion Event
The Book Industry Guild of New York’s “Publishing All American Voices: Diversity and Inclusion” event will feature a panel of emerging, leading-edge editors discussing their perspectives on efforts to publish underrepresented voices and their drive for increased diversity in book publishing. Moderating the panel will be Victory Matsui, editor with Penguin Random House’s One World imprint. The panel includes: Cristobal Pera, publishing director of Vintage Español; Zareen Jaffery, executive editor of Salaam Reads/Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers; and Nicole Counts, assistant editor, One World Imprint/Penguin Random House. The BIGNY session will be held at Penguin Random House, at 1745 Broadway, in New York, on February 13; the speaking session will begin at 6:15 p.m., after a professional networking event held at 5:15 pm. Admission for the February BIGNY event and networking reception is $40 for BIGNY members and $60 for nonmembers. There is a $5 fee for participants only attending the speaker portion of the event.
