Boom! to Publish ‘Clueless: One Last Summer’ Graphic Novel Sequel
The hilarious trio of high school girls from the hit 1995 film Clueless return in Clueless: One Last Summer by writers Amber Benson and Sarah Kuhn and artist Siobhan Keenan, a sequel to the popular 2017 graphic novel Clueless: Senior Year from Boom! Studios.
Coming in fall 2018, Clueless: One Last Summer reunites the famed Clueless characters Cher, Dionne, and Tai, as they prepare for one last summer fling before they go off to college and the challenges of being adults. The sequel graphic novel also reunites the creative team of Benson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Kuhn (Heroine Complex) and Keenan (Adventure Time) that produced the 2017 graphic novel adaptation of the classic 1995 film.
Benson said she is “excited” about the new graphic novel: “When the three of us work together there is a real synergy that makes Cher, Dionne, and Tai’s world come alive. This next installment of the Clueless comic is all about what happens in the summer before the ladies head off to college and it will be chock full of friendship, romance and mystery with a heavy dose of ‘90’s Clueless nostalgia.”
Kuhn says the new book will have “a big part” for the character of Summer (“let’s play suck and blow”), the Asian American girl played by actress Nicole Bilderback in the original film. “Summer’s presence as an amazingly-dressed Asian girl who got to be part of Cher’s cool crowd was always super important to me and I am thrilled to say she has a big part in this book.”
Boom! Studios editor Shannon Watters said, “I’m thrilled that we get to reunite the amazing women, both on the page and behind the story, to explore even more stories with Cher, Dionne and Tai at BOOM! Box.”
