IDW CEO Ted Adams Joins CBLDF Board
Ted Adams, founder and CEO of IDW Media Holdings—which includes the comics and graphic novel publishing division, IDW Publishing—is joining the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund Board of Directors.
CBLDF President Larry Marder said, “Ted’s dedication to free expression is matched only by his entrepreneurial zeal and prudent business acumen.”
The CBLDF is a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting the First Amendment rights of comics artists, publishers, retailers, librarians, and fans. The CBLDF provides a wide variety of legal resources in support of its mission. In addition the CBLDF works in conjunction with such organizations as the Association of American Publishers, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, and the National Coalition Against Censorship.
IDW Media holdings is the parent company IDW Publishing, a major U.S. independent comics and graphic novel publisher, IDW Games, which produces strategic board games, and IDW Entertainment, which produces movie and TV productions based on IDW properties. IDW publishing was founded in 1999.
“The freedoms we have because of the First Amendment can only survive if everyone knows and understands their rights, and if we’re willing to fight to keep them,” Adams said in a prepared statement. “I’ve long admired the work of the CBLDF. My goal is to help the office team and Board continue to educate the comics community about their rights and to be there to defend those rights whenever and wherever necessary.”
