DC, Walmart Plan to Release 100-Page Monthly Comics
DC Entertainment will team with Walmart to release a series of monthly 100-page comics anthologies collecting original and past stories featuring its iconic superheroes that will be sold exclusively via 3,000 Walmart stores around the country.
The series will go on sale July 1. The anthologies include Superman Giant, Justice League of America Giant, Batman Giant and Teen Titan Giant. Each anthology will be priced at $4.99.
The four anthology series will include stories by DC’s top creative talent, including Andy Kubert (New Callengers), Brian Michael Bendix (Superman, Action Comics), Tom King (Batman, Mister Miracle), and many others. Reprint stories will include works taken from such past DC story initiatives as The New 52, Rebirth and the New Age of DC Heroes.
DC Publisher Dan DiDio said the anthologies offer easy access to DC’s stories and characters to new or just curious readers. “We are extraordinarily excited about working with Walmart to expand the reach of our books,” Didio said. “These new monthly books combine new and accessible stories with reprints of classic comic series. It’s a great way for new readers to get into comics and follow the characters they’ve grown to love in TV and film.”
