
Sheikh Zayed Book Award to Host Celebration of Arabic Literature in Translation
The Sheikh Zayed Book Award, which honors the outstanding achievements of innovators and thinkers in literature, the arts, and humanities in Arabic and other languages, will host an event in New York on Wednesday, July 11, celebrating Arabic literature in translation. The event will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Trustees Room at the New York Public Library on July 11.
The event will feature remarks by Juergen Boos, the CEO of Frankfurter Buchmesse; H. E. Majid Al-Suwaidi, the consul general of the United Arab Emirates in New York; and Abdullah Majed Al-Ali, the executive director of the National Library Sector at DCT Abu Dhabi.
These remarks will be followed by an in-depth conversation between Chip Rossetti, executive editor of the Library of Arabic Literature at NYU Press, and John Siciliano, executive editor at Penguin Classics, on the importance of cultural dialogue and sharing stories in translation from the points of view of a translator and an editor.
