Christina Merkler Named CBLDF President
Christina Merkler, co-founder of Discount Comic Book Service, an online comics retailer, has been named president of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund by a unamimous vote of the board of directors.
Merkler will join the CBLDF board along several new board officers, including v-p Chris Powell, v-p retailer services at Diamond Comic Distributors, treasurer Ted Adams, founder and former CEO of IDW, and CBLDF secretary Dale Cenali, partner at Kirkland & Ellis.
The CBLDF is a nonprofit organization focused on protecting First Amendment rights and the freedom to read of readers, artists, librarians, retailers, publishers and educators.
Merkler said, “There’s never been a more important time to protect the First Amendment rights of the comic book community. As President, I look forward to working closely with the CBLDF board and the staff to continue the organization’s important work in supporting comic book retailers, creators, educators, and librarians whose First Amendment rights are being challenged.”
