DC Marks 80 Years of Batman with Detective Comics #1000 Hardcover
DC is marking 80 years of Batman with Detective Comics #1000: The Deluxe Edition, a hardcover edition marking the 1000th issue of the ongoing comics magazine where the iconic hero first appeared in 1939.
DC will publish Detective Comics #1000: The Deluxe Edition, a special edition 168-page hardcover edition of the landmark 1000th issue of Detective Comics, in June. The issue will pay tribute to the most recent adventures of Batman. A periodical issue of Detective Comics #1000 will go on sale in Direct Market comics shops in March.
The tribute release will feature a new Batman story by writer Robert Venditti as well as short stories by a stellar lineup of writers and artists in tribute to the 80th anniversary of the Dark Knight’s first appearance in 1939. Other creators contributing to this hardcover edition celebrating Batman’s most recent adventures include Tom King, Tony S. Daniel & Joëlle Jones, Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo, Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev, Warren Ellis & Becky Cloonan and more.
DC has also released Detective Comics: 80 Years of Batman The Deluxe Edition edited by Paul Levitz, a hardcover collecting 80 years of Batman stories, including the first Batman story from 1939 and a new Batman story by Levitz and artist Denys Cowans.
