Marvel, Dreamscape Media Partner to Produce Superhero Audiobooks
Marvel Entertainment has reached an agreement with the audio and video production firm Dreamscape Media to publish and distribute audiobook stories based on the iconic superhero characters of the Marvel universe.
Dreamscape will produce about 25 original read-to-me style audiobook recordings, the first of which will be released beginning in September 2019. The audiobook recordings will include stories based around such notable Marvel characters as Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men and others. The stories will be drawn from the work of such well-known Marvel writers as Len Wein, Peter David, Marv Wolfman and David Michelinie.
The Marvel/Dreamscape audiobooks will be available via Amazon, Audible, iBooks, Google, OverDrive and other audiobook retail channels. The audiobooks will also be available via Hoopla Digital, an online content source for public libraries. The Marvel audiobooks will also be featured in Dreamscape’s monthly print catalog, which is distributed in the U.S. and Canada, as well as in a variety of trade advertising and weekly mailers.
Dreamscape is the publishing arm of Midwest Tape, which is also the parent company of Hoopla Digital.
Dreamscape Media Publisher Tammy Faxel said Marvel Entertainment has “changed pop culture with its emphasis on character-driven stories,” and said the audiobook partnership will “give fans a new way to connect with their favorite superheroes.”
