Awesome Reads Debuts Graphic Novel Studio at SDCC 2019
Awesome Reads, a fiction publishing imprint launched by writer Jeff Norton in 2018, is adding a graphic novel studio that will develop comics aimed an adult market that will also be developed into films and TV.
The Awesome Reads graphic novel studio will release at least four titles, beginning with Retrograde, a post-apocalyptic love story about a devastating retro-virus that has reversed the evolutionary clock on the planet. Retrograde is written by Richard Dinnick (Doctor Who, Lost In Space), with art by Pasquale Qualano and will be released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Awesome Reads will follow with Guardian by Erika Lewis, a contemporary western focused on a former CIA agent turned vigilante who responds to pleas for help sent via social media. Also coming in 2020 are Brexodus, a political thriller, and Cortex a high-tech mystery about hacking into human memory to solve crimes.
Awesome Media was founded to oversee the novels and other works of writer Jeff Norton.
Norton said, “The graphic novel studio completes the creative circle we’ve been building: from book to screen and back again. We are thrilled to be on the ground floor with top talent and we’ll be partnering with best-in-class production partners to develop these visually arresting stories for the screen.”
