Seshadri Named Poetry Editor at 'Paris Review'
The Paris Review has named Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Vijay Seshadri as the twelfth poetry editor in the magazine’s sixty-six-year history. Seshadri is the author of the poetry books Wild Kingdom, The Long Meadow, The Disappearances, and 3 Sections, in addition to numerous essays, reviews, and memoir fragments. He is the recipient of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for 3 Sections, as well as the 2015 Literature Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches at Sarah Lawrence College.
Seshadri was named poetry editor after a year of guest poetry editors at the Paris Review; over the past four issues, Seshadri, Henri Cole, Shane McCrae, and Monica Youn each selected and edited the magazine’s poetry. The fall issue, the first with Seshadri as full-time poetry editor, will hit newsstands September 10, and features poetry by Solmaz Sharif and Kevin Prufer, among others.
