Hachette to Distribute Lonely Planet Titles
Lonely Planet will outsource its U.S. and Latin American warehousing, distribution, sales, and customer service to Hachette Book Group effective March 2020. The current Oakland warehouse operations will be moved to HBG's facility in Lebanon, Indiana, about 350 miles north of Lonely Planet's Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. HBG will handle the entirety of the publisher's imprints: Lonely Planet, Lonely Planet Kids and Lonely Planet Food. As a result, HBG will be distributing nearly half of all U.S. travel guides, with the inclusion of the Lonely Planet Guides to its own stable of imprints. Lonely Planet’s warehouse in Oakland, California, will close at the end of February 2020. Trade marketing, publicity, and HBG sales force support will continue to be run out of the company’s Oakland-based trade publishing office.
