Milkweed Fellowship Recipient Named
Milkweed Editions announced Monday morning that the Minneapolis literary nonprofit press has selected the inaugural recipient of its new Milkweed Fellowship: Julian Randall, an African-American poet living in Chicago. Randall is relocating to Minneapolis during his tenure at Milkweed, and will begin work the day after Labor Day. Randall, who holds an M.F.A. from Ole Miss, has worked as a bookseller at Politics & Prose in Washington, D.C., and founded and curated Lineage of Mirrors, an initiative that publishes new work by poets of color.
The Milkweed Fellowship is a 12-24 month program designed to increase access to careers in book publishing for people from backgrounds that are historically under-represented among those working in the industry, including indigenous people, people of color, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. The position is full-time, with a $30K per annual salary and full benefits.
