Cundill History Prize Shortlist Announced
The shortlist for Canada's 2019 Cundill History Prize, which comes with a $75,000 purse, has been announced. The winner will be revealed at the Cundill History Prize Gala at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts on November 14.
The shortlist is as follows:

- Orphans of Empire: The Fate of London’s Foundlings by Helen Berry
- Frederick Douglass: American Prophet by David Blight
- Reckonings: Legacies of Nazi Persecution and the Quest for Justice by Mary Fulbrook
- A Fistful of Shells: West Africa from the Rise of the Slave Trade to the Age of Revolution by Toby Green
- American Eden: David Hosack, Botany, and Medicine in the Garden of the Early Republic by Victoria Johnson
- These Truths: A History of the United States by Jill Lepore
- Maoism: A Global History by Julia Lovell
